Buy Privilege Club Avios
There are four realistic ways to add Avios to an account: buy direct from Qatar Airways, earn them, transfer eligible partner points, or ask us for an independent quote. Buy requests are usually Qsuite-driven. We look at whether the shortfall can be covered more cheaply by Qatar's own Avios sale.
How to buy Avios
| Option | How it works | Advantages | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy direct from Qatar Airways | Purchase through the airline's own official Buy Miles page where it is offered. | Straightforward, within programme terms, sometimes bonused. | Retail pricing, annual purchase caps, and price varies with promotions. |
| Earn through flying and partners | Avios accrue on Qatar Airways and oneworld flights, co-brand cards in selected markets, and Privilege Club partners. | No purchase cost, and flights also earn status credit. | Slow if you need a specific balance for a booking soon. |
| Transfer eligible partner points | As part of the Avios family, balances can be moved between participating programmes under published rules. | Can be cheaper than buying, and ratios are sometimes bonused. | Transfers are usually irreversible and are governed by both providers' terms. |
| Request a MilesQuote quote | Tell us the shortfall and the award you are trying to book; we review it and reply with an indicative figure or an honest no. | Independent comparison against the direct price, no published rate to talk you into. | No guaranteed price, no guaranteed availability, and programme terms still govern your account. |
How much Avios cost
Qatar Airways sells Avios directly through Privilege Club, with periodic promotions. That direct price is your benchmark. Any third-party figure — ours included — should be compared against it with taxes and carrier-imposed surcharges included, not against the headline award price alone.
Run the arithmetic before committing with the miles vs cash calculator, which compares the full award total against the cash fare.
How Privilege Club awards are priced
Redemptions cover Qatar Airways flights including Qsuite, oneworld partners, upgrades and the oneworld Explorer style multi-carrier products where offered.
Qsuite redemptions can show strong value against premium cash fares, though surcharges and taxes vary by origin.
When buying Avios makes sense
- You have already found award space on your exact dates.
- You are short by a modest amount and only need to buy the shortfall.
- The award is a premium cabin where the cash fare is several times the award cost.
- The all-in award total is clearly below the cash fare, not marginally below it.
When buying Avios usually does not make sense
- You are buying speculatively, with no confirmed award availability.
- The saving is under roughly ten per cent — cash keeps flexibility and earning.
- Surcharges absorb most of the fare you were trying to avoid.
- The redemption is short-haul economy against an already-cheap fare.
Buying versus transferring
As part of the Avios family, balances can be moved between participating programmes under published rules.
Current promotions
We do not publish promotion claims. Airline purchase bonuses appear and expire quickly, so check Qatar Airways's official purchase page for what is live today and treat any third-party promotion table as advertising.
Before you buy
- Confirm award availability on your exact dates before buying any Avios.
- Compare any quote against Qatar Airways's own purchase price, including promotions.
- Include taxes and carrier-imposed surcharges in the total cost.
- Read Qatar Airways's programme terms — they govern your account, not us.
