Valuation

What are your airline miles worth?

Miles have no intrinsic value. They are worth the cash you avoid spending, less the cash you still pay. Every valuation page here starts from that and nothing else.

The method in one line

value per mile = (cash fare you would have paid − taxes and surcharges) ÷ miles spent

Use the fare you would genuinely have bought, not the most expensive flexible fare on the route. Subtract every cash charge you still pay on the award. Then judge the result against what the miles cost you to acquire.

Valuation by programme

Each page covers how that programme prices awards, where value concentrates, and worked examples at six balance sizes.

Valuation questions

How much is one airline mile worth?
There is no single answer. A mile is worth the cash fare you avoid, minus the surcharges you still pay, divided by the miles spent. That varies by programme, route, cabin and date.
Why don't you publish a cents-per-mile table?
Averaged tables tell you nothing about the booking in front of you, and they are frequently used to make redemptions look better than they are. We give you the method and the calculators instead.
Does a valuation tell me what a buyer would pay?
No. Redemption value and market price are different questions. Request a quote if you want an indicative market figure.
