How Velocity Frequent Flyer value is calculated
The method is the same for every programme: take the cash fare you would genuinely have bought, subtract the taxes and carrier-imposed surcharges you still pay on the award, then divide by the points spent. That gives cents per point. Multiply it by your balance to get an estimated value.

Economy awards usually land near the conservative end of the range, because the cash fare you are displacing is cheap.
